Someone Called British

So many things happened today, it's hard to pinpoint any one thing that was the best or most memorable of them all. We went to the capitoline museum for most of the time, and then visited the Ara Pacis where Anna proceeded to get super emotional about her monument. It was expected - and I made sure there was photo evidence afterwards. Possibly the best part of the day wasn't remotely connected to historical Rome, however, since it happened at the little tented shop next to S. Maria in Ara Coeli on the Capitoline.
When we walked into the tent to get out of the torrential Roman rain, the man immediately asked Anna and me if we were from the U.K. The assumption that we were British instead of American was amazing, especially since he then gave us an amazing discount on all of his items. Hopefully more Romans can think we aren't arrogant and rude Americans, it might make this trip that much more enjoyable.
On a less positive note - we had a very interesting evening. After we had a divine dinner with the entire class and Alessandra, Curley's friend and a poet, a few of us got on a bus to go back to the University. It was already relatively late, but only about 10:45 Italian time when we got on. Next thing I knew, we were headed in the complete opposite direction from where we wanted to be. As I watched us get further and further away on my map I kept thinking to myself that it was a loop and the bus would eventually go the other way. That was not the case. Thank God for Victoria who can speak smatterings of Italian because she was able to get us on the right bus and back to the University in one piece. Between the two buses, we were on public transportation for more than 1:15 - which is too long after a grueling day in a museum. I might be avoiding buses for a little while after that fiasco.
